Before the fanboys get all gooey over how wonderful Disneys - TopicsExpress

Before the fanboys get all gooey over how wonderful Disneys settlement with the Kirby estate is -- and it IS, for Jack and Rozs heirs -- lets put it in perspective: this is nothing more than a prudent, bottom-line business decision. Disney clearly knows that what Jack helped create and develop is, as far as we can see today, an infinitely-exploitable asset. Better to settle now and close off any future claims, before the dollar amounts in question become any more astronomical. BTW, this post is meant, not as a criticism of ANY person or entity whatsoever, but, rather, merely to offer a rationalists perspective on how these things work. These kinds of buy-outs (or, if you prefer, buy-OFFS) are as old as the comics business itself, and understandable from a gimlet-eyed business point of view. The abstraction of justice -- with which comic book people seem, by nature, to be obsessed -- has nothing to do with it. Fair play is just something on Mr. Terrifics shirt.
