And I’ll be driving the thing, in my best seven inch heels.” So so proud too to have been part of this incredible, magnificent, visionary, rowdy and fabulous era of queer greatness in London Town. You have left me covered in bruises, smiles, incredible memories. Ive only just caught up with sleep after spending a sum total of 15 hours without leaving Joiners on its closing night. We had a 5 hour direct action skillshare with other bad-ass London based groups challenging austerity, gentrification and the take-over of London life from (predominantly) white, rich, straight, capitality greedy property developers (BIG UP Focus E15 Mothers, House of Brag and many more) which then led to a lets snog everyone in Joiners on its last night marathon once the party started (thanks to all the participants ;)). I know that just because the Joiners doors are closed (for now), some things are just too good to vanish just because corporate power wants it to. I am not nostalgic but instead have so much hope for the future. Mr David Alexander Pollard, every person involved in the Friends of the Joiners Arms, every feisty LGBTQQIAA person who has reared their head above the parapet of a city dominated by heteronormative living - your spirit will definitely live on forevermore.
