Beginning today at 4:00 pm, Kearney Lake Road will be closed to vehicular traffic from Hamshaw Drive to the new Larry Uteck Boulevard intersection. The extension of Larry Uteck Boulevard and it’s connection to Kearney Lake Road will provide motorists with access to Highway#102. This road closure is being undertaken by Dexter Construction to accommodate the completion of the Kearney Lake Road sewer and water project which involves the installation of a wastewater sewer, wastewater forcemains, and a watermain. The road closure is scheduled to remain in effect until mid-late November. The new Larry Uteck Boulevard extension and it’s connection to Kearney Lake Road, will open to traffic concurrently with the Kearney Lake Road closure today at 4:00 p.m. After 4:00 p.m. today, Larry Uteck Boulevard will serve as the detour for Kearney Lake Road traffic traveling inbound toward Halifax from the Hammonds Plains area. In addition, Larry Uteck Boulevard will serve as the detour for motorists heading outbound from Halifax wishing to access Kearney Lake Road between the Larry Uteck Boulevard and Hammonds Plains Road. Access for local residents/businesses from Civic 327 Kearney Lake Road to Larry Uteck Boulevard will be at the intersection of Kearney Lake Road and Larry Uteck Boulevard only. Access for residents of the Hamshaw Drive/Saskatoon Avenue area will be at the intersection of Kearney Lake Road and Hamshaw Drive and will be restricted to an easterly (inbound) direction only when exiting Hamshaw Drive. Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site during the transition to maintain communication with local residents and businesses, and help minimize disruption. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones. We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause. For more information on Halifax Water please visit halifaxwater.ca
