Behind 23 first-half points from Adreian Payne, Michigan State leads Delaware, 44-33, at halftime. The Spartans put together a 23-6 run to build an 18-point lead at 36-18 on Payne’s 3-pointer. Delaware responded with a 12-2 run of its own to pull to within eight at 38-30. Payne hit 6-of-8 first-half field-goal attempts, including 4-for-4 from 3-point range, and converted all seven of his free-throw attempts. Payne scored 17 straight points for the Spartans during one stretch. MSU’s Gary Harris netted 10 first-half points. Devon Saddler paces Delaware in scoring with 12 points. MSU shot 54 percent (14-of-26) from the floor in the first half, including 8-of-13 from 3-point distance (.615). The Spartans also outrebounded the Blue Hens, 22-10. Be sure the catch the second half on TNT. The winner faces Harvard in the NCAA Tournament third round on Saturday.
