Behold :) I´ve held both the A7 and the A7r today :) they are impressively small, looks alike but behave differently. They both feel extremely light and rigid. Even with the battery grip, they seem small (compared to the A99). The batteri grips price tag is almost twice the price of the A99s battery grip, but alas it features less controls and less battery power- the A7 setup can hold only two small batteries against three large ones in the A99. The A7 is very fast in focusing, using a lot of focuspoints - very similar to my NEX5R, the A7r uses one large square in the middle and is almost as fats, but not quite. Compared to a Nikon D800, they are both just a tad slower!.. Shooting multiple frames in RAW, the A7r took forever to write the images to the SD card- forever! Dont know why, but it did... The viewfinder looked just like the one in my A99- very nice and almost like an optical viewfinder with all the extra benefits. The shutter sound is awesome! firm, sharp and has a pro quality to it. I wouldn´t want to pay so much money for the A7/A7r unless i had a desperate need for less bulkier equipment. I would actually end up paying more than i did for my A99 solution to get a similar setup. The lenses aren´t there yet, but are getting there fast, with Zeiss and Sigma working as madmen to get their lineups ready in time. All in all, nice tech, to expensive for my purse, no ecosystem to play with - and i cant help feeling this is a very expensive toy - i know its completely wrong, and its unfair, but it just popped into my head- most likely because i am used to the huge A99. Anyhow- nice experience, good to see that Sony still has it - they are both very innovative cameras. I would love get one donated :) i am shure they both would grow on me quickly. Let me hear what you think....
