Beig cautions people against divisive agenda of NC Rajouri, August 4: Cautioning people against nefarious designs of National Conference (NC), former Deputy Chief Minister and senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Muzaffar Hussain Beig today said that NC leadership has always propagate divisive policies to create division among people on regional, ethnic and communal lines. Beig regretted that to remain in power, NC leadership has always pursued the divide and rule policy and hoodwinked the gullible masses of the State by exploiting their sentiments. Addressing an impressive function which was organised in connection with the foundation day celebrations at Rajouri, Beig observed that except exploiting sentiments of the people to remain in power, the successive NC regimes have done nothing for the upliftment and betterment of the residents of twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. “These two districts are the glaring examples of divisive and exploitive policies being propagated by the successive NC regimes”, the former Deputy Chief Minister said and reminded the gathering that PDP led coalition regime had formulated a comprehensive policy for the growth and development of these two districts. He said that the backward and neglected region of Poonch and Rajouri was brought on the developmental map by implementing various developmental projects in this part during PDP-Congress regime. Beig added that PDP led regime had carved out a path of peace and equitable development in Jammu and Kashmir. “Equal treatment was given to all regions and sub-regions of the state during PDP regime”, he recalled and added that all parts of the State were politically empowered during PDP led regime and every section of the society was involved in the decision making process. “PDP had proved how to treat all sections of the society equally by providing equal opportunities of growth and development to all individuals”, he said, adding, “Attaining power is not the only aim of PDP. PDP wants to change destiny of the people of J&K and to set up a pro-people corruption free transparent and accountable system”. “During our tenure in the government, PDP led regime had taken every possible effort to deliver good governance to the people”, he said and added that initiatives taken by the PDP-Congress regime had yielded very encouraging results because faith of the people in the democratic institutions was restored and the commoner got the taste of good governance. Terming NC as “mother of all problems” of Jammu and Kashmir, Beig exhorted party workers to expose misdeeds of this party before the masses. “During the last nearly five years long tenure the present NC led coalition regime government has not even identified its priorities”, he said and added that legalizing corruption was the one and the only achievement of this dispensation. Taking a dig at NC leadership, he reminded that this party had made a number of promises with the people of Jammu and Kashmir during the last Assembly elections but not even a single promise has been so far implemented. Basharat Bukhari, MLA, Choudhary Zulfikar, MLA, Surinder Choudhary, Qayoom Dar, Choudhar Qamar Din, Abdul Bari, Shahzad Khan, Zubair Khan, Tazim Dar, Tahir lone Master Prem Chand, Ashok Kumar, Anjum Mirza and others also spoke on the occasion. ====
