Being a missionary does not mean you take a quantum leap all at once from your present neighborhood all the way to Paris, France the moment you decide to be part of Mt 28:19 Great Commission. Not infrequently, God wants to send you to a place vastly different from that you first envisioned - not in Hawaii but in Hanoi, and not in England, but in icy Greenland. More often than not, God may want you to stay and bloom where you are. God actually pre-figured this missionary work to be like concentric circles, moving from the inside to the outside. From Jerusalem to Judea (where Jerusalem was), to Samaria (the Judean next-door territorial neighbor) to the uttermost part of the world. Acts 1:8. How systematic Gods plan was. How wise the Creator is. He would not want your next-door neighbor to be evangelized when your own hometown has not been touched by God and evangelized as yet. NO ONE IS TO BE LEFT BEHIND. NO VACUUM IN THE MIDDLE. PstrEDeLEON
