This is why I see no reason to join a city. I believe that I can get more done working with the county directly than having to deal with another jurisdiction and overlapping rules. Trust me on this...we, as individuals, can be effective with our county government. There are really good people there. Change the leadership so these fine people can do their jobs for us. Dear Commissioner May, I am writing to tell you about my awesome experience with Dekalb County Roads and Drainage. I am a participant in the Dekalb Citizens Drainage program, which was a huge help in addressing a large storm water runoff problem in my yard from the county catch basin in the street above my property. Due to a number of complications involving county installations in my neighbors yard, this has been a lengthy process, since 2011, but throughout, I have been so impressed by the courtesy, professionalism, and helpfulness of all with whom I have worked. From the 311 receptionist to the drainage inspector to the engineer and his supervisor to the crew, I have received exceptional service from all. The work was completed today, and both I and my neighbor appreciate this job well done. I cannot say enough good things about these folks, and I just had to let you know.
