Being at the end of the year, one of my favorite things to do is reflect on the music released throughout the year. 2014 was an amazing year. I was introduced to the amazing talent of Pretty Lights who blew me away twice. It was a great year for trance with Scream 2 and Music is More than Mathematics among others. I got to see my buddy Tangle grow as an artist, and with an absolutely phenomenal sub label. I saw a few great shows including a Markus OTC (at the most miserable club in the world), a Max Graham OTC, Orjan Nilsen for the first time, and Bluestone twice. Also set out to make an independent label with two great friends, and was able to accomplish that goal with two releases before the year was up. As far as favorites go, for me this year was no competition. Hands down, absolutely 100% my favorite artists of this year and favorite album of the year has been Cosmic Gate and Start to Feel. This album has the feel of the sound that I really love as far as the more cheesy sound of trance goes. The good kinda cheese. The kind that has allowed me to connect with each song individually on the album on an intimate level. Through both good and bad times this year, I have been able to turn to this album for comfort, reflection, inspiration or just plain good listening.
