Being homeless doesnt look like we think it does. And it can - TopicsExpress

Being homeless doesnt look like we think it does. And it can happen to you, me or anyone we know. For Joan Lansbury, the impact on her life of being in comfortable, affordable housing is simply and beautifully illustrated at the supermarket checkout. I used to put all the important things first, then the semi-important things, she says. Then thered be a gap and a few special things, like cashews. Id say to the girl, Ill only put that through if Ive got enough - but half the time Id have to take the semi-important things back. Id be so embarrassed. Now I go through the checkout and the cashews roll past without me even thinking about it. She cackles. Mind you, I make them last a month.
