Being in New Orleans last week on vacation,, I learned several things I didnt know concerning Hurricane Katrina,Does it ever appear to you that the 82nd Airborne unit can be anywhere in the world within 48 hours?..Peep real game how is that the militia was well prepared in Ferguson last week to take out and kill protestors if need be..However it took the United States Government 5 days to rescue the victims of the hurricane.If you didnt learn anything perhaps you learned the RESIDENTS were left for dead.As I returned to some of the hardest hit regions of the city I gained first hand knowledge of how the levees were imploded upon impact..Heres the most interesting fact of my whole field trip the heartbeat of the city The French Quarters didnt experience any damage except for power outages.Retailers in the Quarters take in a excess of 450k per day in revenues,So it makes perfect sense to protect the well oiled machine tourism..Within 3 weeks it was business as usual in the Big Easy,While thousands of residents fled the city it remained a ghost town for many months following the aftermath of Katrina.Currently the majority of the city isnt operating at its fullest capacity.Gentrification has showed its ugly head as most affluent folks have moved back into the downtown region,while most poor residents of the wards(projects) are torn down,Section housing is very scarce now days..Sign of the times..Shalom..
