Being involved in the relief process since last one month I ponder over the fact and conclude that we have been reduced to beggars. Everyone is begging, we beg in a sophisticated manner by giving ourselves the title of being social activists and naming our beggary as relief while begging to outsiders includings Indians and Foreigners, while the flood victims beg to us in name of relief. Kashmir has the recorded history of more than 5500 years that very few nations can boast about and has produced doyens and stalwarts in every field. But now we have been reduced to mere beggars and it speaks volumes about our decline as a nation and people. We have nothing to boast about and there are numerous reasons for our penury and decline that include the political conflict, political pimping, religious zealotry and our nature. The worst punishment for a nation is when it is retrograded to an army of beggars.
