Being on that stage accepting my award from Sandra Yancey, CEO of #eWomen Network for the 2014 eWomen Network Business Matchmaker of the Year was almost an out of body experience especially since I was chosen out of 40,000 women. Many of you may not know my story. Let me share this snippet: 5 years ago I was living in fear in the Middle East, contemplating suicide knowing I couldnt continue to live a life of abuse yet not knowing how to get out. I was isolated. Beaten down to only a shell of who I was. I also knew I would never leave my daughter. When she told me, Mom, get me out here, I summoned the courage to plan the escape of our lives. When my voice was squelched for so many decades and to now be in front of about 2,000 people is something I could had never fathomed at the time. Who is with me to stomp out verbal, emotional, psychological and physical abuse? I want to proclaim that LOVE IS KIND AND GENTLE. Its time to shift the paradigm. Let our voices be heard. Thank you.
