Being part of The Kings Singers is a defining part of a singers - TopicsExpress

Being part of The Kings Singers is a defining part of a singers life, but no matter how much we all love this life and making music together it has to end at some point. Making the decision to move on is difficult, and always very emotional both for the man who decides to move on and for his colleagues who continue in the group. Yesterday, Paul Phoenix, our tenor colleague since 1997, told us of his decision to move on from The Kings Singers in August of this year. We will miss him dreadfully both on- and off-stage, and thank him from the bottom of our hearts for his friendship, musicianship and service to the group for nearly two decades. Paul writes: The Kings Singers have been at the centre of my life for nearly seventeen years, and after such a long time and so many wonderful experiences its difficult to contemplate moving on to other things. Nevertheless this is to be my last season as tenor in the worlds finest vocal group. In August this year I shall leave the Kings Singers and move on to the next stage of life. Helena and I have spent a lot of time apart since I joined the KS in 1997, and we are looking forward to spending more time together, as we move towards our 20th wedding anniversary in September. William and Edward, my beloved boys are at last going to see more of their Dad. I fully intend to carry on singing after I leave, but I also want to concentrate on coaching, lecturing and mentoring - passing on the extensive knowledge that my privileged position has given me. I am overwhelmed by the kindness and support from David, Tim, Chris, Chris and Johnny and I look forward to my final months as a Kings Singer, and the many celebrations we will share with our friends around the world.
