Being prophetic does not dismiss reality. One common belief is that the prophetic removes accountability responsibility and stewardship. If God says you are about to get promoted on your job this in no way shape or form means to get lazy, be late etc. You will still have to perform whats required of you and God will favor you and fulfill his word. This example goes with all revelation. Revelation does not dismiss reality but once you apply revelation your reality will become the revelation.
