Beloved former mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino, was an extraordinary friend and loyal champion for our program and our patients. He took a personal interest in our patients, especially those living on the streets, and went out of his way to help improve the quality of their lives. He was a true advocate for people in need and was always there for us when we needed him. In fact, he was instrumental in the opening of our original respite program in 1993 – the McInnis House -- and he helped make possible our new home at Jean Yawkey Place in 2008. He left a wonderful legacy, and he will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with the Menino Family in their time of deep loss. *Pictured: Mayor Menino, President Jim O’Connell, former CEO Bob Taube, and boardmembers at a mayors breakfast celebrating our work and Jean Yawkey Place, circa 2005.
