Below is a great movie(Starring Will Smith), namely: I Robot. Cognitive sicience is the creation of programs that simulate human behavior. However in the movie(I robot)they went further than that. For in the movie Robots also simulated human emotions. Furthermore the Robots were programmed with three laws. The laws are as follows: 1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2) A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. Now; according to the programmers(in the movie)the three laws cannot be violated. And consequently they are perfect. But; What kind of nature do laws have? In other words; are laws absolute? or; are laws relative? Furthermore; is it possible for imperfect humans to create perfect laws? Moreover; since humans do not have absolute knowledge, does this not imply that there are unforseen circumstances that can cause the robot to be confused about its parameters? It is also important to note that there are also sematics issues to deal with as well. For example; consider the first law: The question is; what is harm? In other words; can we qualify this word(categorically)so that the Robot can always avoid it?
