At five p.m. on Radhastami I went to Janardhana Prabhu’s internet shop up the road from the temple and requested him to make the first OM Flag. He had already been helping me with internet services over the last week and was very excited about the Om Flag from the beginning. He immediately purchased blue and gold silk cloth from shops who have the same quality cloth that Lord Jagannatha wears. Within the next two hours, the first flag was made. At around seven p.m. Janardhana Prabhu reached the Sri Mandir, where, Sri Sudarsana was just returning to the entrance of the temple, after doing parikrama with a procession, as Sudarsana does on Radhastami. The first OM Flag was blessed by Sudarsana, and then taken by the servants of Jagannatha inside the Sri Mandir with Sudarsana and offered to the chest of Lord Jagannatha. Lord Jagannatha wore the OM Flag and then, fragrant with the prasadi chandana of Lord Jagannatha, the Om Flag was brought to Jaya Sri Damodara Gaudiya Matha, and along with a kirtana procession, taken to Srila Gurudeva’s bhajana kutira and offered to the Prema-Yugacarya.
