Below is a note from Eric Macneill, the current EUSPBA president. The part at the end, stating that our Southwest branch is the outskirts of the EUSPBA and implies that we are somehow less than the rest of the association is particularly interesting. Keep in mind, that participation in branch/association government by other euspba branches, even in the Northeast, is equal or often lower than our branch. In fact, the EUSPBA AGM held in San Antonio -- our branch!-- was one of the most well-attended in recent history. Please read Erics note. And whichever way you choose to vote, just please vote. Thanks! From: Eric MacNeill Date: October 2, 2014 at 5:15:47 PM EDT To: Eric MacNeill Subject: EUSPBA Vote Dear friends and fellow competitors. I am writing to you as fellow active members of the EUSPBA, as after this upcoming election I will just be another member of the association. I am writing to strongly encourage your votes for Dan Cole for president, Jim Dillahey for Vice President, and Jason Matteson for Officer at Large. I know many of you are active teachers with students and involved with other pipe bands. I believe it is very important that you share this information with everyone you can and encourage everyone to vote. Dan Cole has been active with the EC of the EUSPBA for past 4 years. He is a profesional level competitior, plays with NY Metro, and has been active in teaching and developing local lower grade bands. Dan brings with him the type of perspective that is important to all of us. Hes aware of the world scene and aware of what is necessary for the EUSPBA to keep up with requirements and standards to remain competitive. Jim Dillahey has been a great chair of the southern branch, was a very sucessful pipe major of the Charleston Police Pipe Band, teaches piping at the Citadel program in South Carolina, and he currently is a member of the City of Dunedin pipe band. He is professional level player and active judge. Jim brings a great attitude and great perspective to the EC. I strongly feel our association would be in great hands moving forward with these two gentlemen. While we might not agree with every view they have--at the end of the day, we know that they share our perspectives and understand our needs as competitors and teachers to advance in the EUSPBA and our global pipping community. I am highly concerned with the message that has come out from Patrick and Kenton about their plans, as I dont think they have the best interests of our association in mind. I think they have the best interests in mind for the region that they are active in, but that is the outskirts of the EUSPBA. .....weve been down that road before, and I surely hope we can avoid going there again. Id be glad to chat about this more if any of you are interested. Thanks for reading and please remember to vote. Cheers, -Eric
