Below is my husbands post from this morning. Tomorrow, we take Mark to Johns Hopkins to see an orthopedic specialist. Hell more than likely cast Marks right leg. His left wrist has a hairline fracture that will heal without any splint or cast. For now, we are trying to manage Marks pain. Hes in a tremendous amount of pain when we move his leg. Rest & elevation & percocet/motrin are his best friends. Please keep Mark in your prayers. We all have a long road ahead of us but hope by next year, Mark will be up and walking again. My son, Mark, fell yesterday in our van. The fall shattered his right ankle and fractured his left wrist. I have never seen my son in so much pain and screaming so loud or felt so helpless. I just keep looking up and asking why God. He is home now from the hospital but we are waiting to get an appt. with Johns Hopkins to determine if he needs surgery or casting on his leg. They did not want to cast him with swelling occuring in the next 24 hours. Marks fall would not have been so devastating to most children, but he has Duchenne muscular dystrophy and has been on steroids since age 4. The drug has caused his bones to become brittle and fragile as the elderly. He may never walk again. This disease is beyond cruel and just keeps taking and taking from my son. I ask that you keep Mark in your prayers.
