Below is something I posted to a friends FB post about supporting an increase in the minimum wage. Please note that this is an example & that I am not an actual employer. ********************************* As an employer I could have a $12,000.00 monthly budget to pay 12 people (presumed to be at minimum wage) $235.29 a week (or 4.25 weeks=$1,000.00 a month). The new minimum wage would increase the wages by just over 50% so for the sake of easy numbers we will say the employees on minimum wage will now earn $1,500.00 a month and force me to layoff 1/3 (4 of the 12) of the employees in order to stay within the $12,000.00 monthly budget. The new increase in unemployed individuals will increase the need for taxpayer (the employees who still have jobs & have to pay taxes) funded welfare &/or foodstamps which gives the government justification for raising taxes to be able to afford the new demand for various forms of assistance. This is the cycle of slavery imposed on free citizens.
