Benedict Cumberbatch in Talks For Marvel’s Doctor Strange We finally may have our “Sorcerer Supreme of Earth.” There have been many lists this year concerning who will play Steven Strange aka Doctor Strange. Ranging from Joaquin Phoenix – who was in talks for a while before talks broken down – to Tom Hardy and now the man who is talks (again) for the role: Benedict Cumberbatch. Cumberbatch, who is known for his iteration of Sherlock Holmes in the BBC show Sherlock, is Marvel’s top choice now to take on the former neurosurgeon who is gifted with mystical powers. Cumberbatch was on the list to the play the character earlier this year, but said he wouldn’t be able to do it because of scheduling conflicts, but it now looks like talks are back on, and he might finally play the character. I personally like Cumberbatch to play Doctor Strange. He’s a great actor that has a lot of range and could bring some great levity to the character. Of course, Marvel will probably make him sign a multi-picture deal like everyone else, so we could be seeing – maybe – a lot of Cumberbatch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
