Bengaluru traffic helped get a heart from BGS hospital to Kempegowda International airport in flat 60 minutes. Normally 120 minutes in thick traffic. A brain dead womans heart had to be taken from Bengaluru to a patient in Chennai for transplantation. The decisions were made quickly by the doctors and donating family. Max time they had was 6 hours. Bengaluru traffic police did an amazing job all across the 60 KM from hospital to airport, giving a complete green route to the ambulance. Then the heart was rushed in a special box to the plane with very hurried security check. Then in movie style, the heart landed in Chennai within 2 hours from the BGS hospital start. Then Chennai police would have done the same thing to get the heart quickly to the target hospital. I hope the transplantation went sucessfully which was a long process that started immediately. A lesson for skeptics.. Kannada and Tamil people do unite when the situation demands it :)
