Beo

Beo is the Irish word for life or living. During the month of March, the MAVIS students of IADT, presents a two-part public exhibition in the Drawing Project Gallery space in Dun Laoghaire, featuring mid-year work by third-year students from the BA in Visual Arts Practice. The Drawing Project in an initiative of the Faculty of Film, Art and Creative Technologies at IADT, developed as a space and venue for Irish and International artists to exhibit and discuss their work in collaboration with students and staff of IADT-Dun Laoghaire. The exhibition and workshop space also offers IADT students a professional gallery context in which to experiment in and present their work to the wider public. Giving life to the role and work of the Curator in the Latin root and origins of the word curare to take care of’, the MA students of Visual Arts Practices, welcomed the opportunity to engage in developing a curatorial and public exhibition platform to present this exhibition of new work by IADT art students at these early stages of their life as a professional artist.. Tender, emerging /on the cusp as professional artists. This exhibition offers the third-year students a valuable opportunity, in working with emerging Curators, in the presentation and introduction of their work into a public context. It also offered the MAVIS students an opportunity to develop a curatorial platform and context for these students, in the presentation of their work within a professional context. Reflecting the diversity of contemporary arts practice today, this show incorporates both traditional and emerging art practices and presents a variety of media, including performance, print, photography and protest.
