Berbers in the Jabal Nafusa, Adrar Nfusen in Amazigh Language the Tamazight, are offering their cooperation to the GNC for smooth transition. They offer a venue to the NTC to work being shielded afar from fightings, and also offer their cooperation in mediating between parties. Berbers participated to Libyan history since its beginnings. They opposed fierce Armed resistance to the Roman Empire so that the Adrar Nfusen had been called by Romans the Limes Metropolitanum beyond which they could not proceed, and quoted Nalut as Tabumati. Also Romans have created the said Hic sunt leones to indicate the Adrar Nfusen underlining the fierce opposition made by Nafusi Berbers. In the 7th century they opposed armed resistance to the Islamic Invasion of the area. Then they opposed armed resistance to the Ottoman Army and subsequently, headed by Omar al Mukhtar, opposed to the Italian Invasion. Finally Berber militias played a significant role in the fall of Qaddafi. I am confident in their will to collaborate in the pacification of the country and the defense of democracy. I hope Nafusi Berbers will also understand the crucial role UN peacekeepers will have in the pacification process in Libya. Only a Supranational Body shall dominate the legitimate interests of the various parties and deliver the fate of the Country to Democracy instead to Illegal Militias.
