Berklee College of Music gave Earl Scruggs the banjo legend, an honorary doctorate degree. How cool was that! I played with Earl often, including this show where we played a classic of his Reuben. He sure is playing great here. I love where he hit that passage of 3 over 4 and just hangs there in perfect time. A little ragtime from his native North Carolina Piedmont Blues guitar style he grew up around, and played himself. He mainly finger-picked the guitar when he played, not flat-picked. Earl passed away a couple of years ago and we all miss him. We are preparing for the the big string camp at Berklee College in Boston where they will be lots of bluegrass, jazz, classical and other styles! Fantastic! https://youtube/watch?v=D-TMdFzH_PA&list=PLfBSlaNrS1v3aILP0kVwOcclb4RMWKw5M&index=18
