Bernies oncologist appointment was this afternoon and there was good news as well as bad news. The cancer numbers were up, but not a great deal, so the doctor said that if he wanted to continue to be off chemo for another month or so, he didnt think that would be a bad idea. However, Bernies right second toe is as red as red can be. Although he went to the podiatrist last week, was on an antibiotic for seven days, and was diagnosed with cellulitis, and the redness left after a few days, it is back as red as ever. Also, there is a line of red going thru the top of his foot. Dr. Sabir, his oncologist, thinks it could be a bone infection, osteomyelitis. Today we went for the x-ray and have to go for a bone scan later this week. Back to the foot doctor soon too. Also, an appointment with Bernies primary care doctor Rudolph Menchl (a great doctor) so that Bernie can have a colonoscopy done asap. He might have a problem of malabsorption, and I dont know what can be done with that. In other words, Bernie has a myriad of problems perhaps associated with his multiple myeloma cancer or not. At one time, the doctor said that Bernie will probably not die from this cancer, but from complications of it. We hope and pray that this is not that time. As for me and my neuropathy in the top of my foot, I still have it, but not as severe as last week -- waiting for the five tubes of medicine from Express Scripts and take a lot of ibuprofen in the meantime. The good news is that the cranberry orange muffins at Macomb Hospital are delicious -- its worth going there just for those!! Also, the gift store has lots of great stuff!! If that cookbook is still there when we go for the bone scan, Im going to buy it. Also the good news is that I am still living to take care of my dear husband Bernie -- I thank the Lord daily for this extension of my life so that I can help extend Bernies. Thanks be to God!
