Better plan for that advanced degree. Pull-through numbers are not encouraging... "After sinking years of their time and tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars into postgraduate education, a surprising number of students drop out before getting a degree. A study by the Council of Graduate Schools finds that 40% to 50% of doctoral students leave before finishing their programs. For many, the biggest obstacle is the time commitment needed to complete a Ph.D.: sometimes as long as 10 years or more. Fewer than 23% of students finished their degrees within five years, and just 46% within seven years." marketwatch/story/10-things-grad-schools-wont-tell-you-2013-08-15?pagenumber=8
