Bettws Residents: Lock your vehicles! That’s the simple message being given by officers to drivers in the area following recent thefts from vehicles. This warning comes after a recent rise in thefts from vehicles in the Bettws, Allt-yr-yn and Malpas areas with 14 crimes reported in the last two days. Out of the 14 crimes reported, 9 of those were because the vehicle had been left insecure. Valuables stolen include laptops, iPods, handbags, satnavs, keys and even a pram! Officers are urging all residents to make sure that they remove any valuables from view. PS Adrian Davies said, ‘There has been an increase in thefts from vehicles in the area, however the large majority of these were as a result of the vehicles not being locked. This is like an early Christmas present for thieves! We really are urging residents to check and double check their vehicles when they leave them and to make sure everything is hidden from view or hidden in the boot. Stay vigilant and if you see anything suspicious, call 101 to report it.’ Officers are available to give crime prevention advice if needed to any resident.
