Between animal rights activists seeking to end dog ownership, an unyielding and mostly uninformed adopt dont shop movement, substandard breeders and apathetic fanciers, these are tough times in which to be a purebred dog owner, and even harder for the ethical breeder. How much is willful ignorance, what are the facts, and who decides whats right for the dogs and their owners? Lets talk about it. Susi Szeremy writes from the perspective of a purebred dog owner and fancier. Her work appears on on her site, DogKnobit, and her credits include Dogs in Review, Show Site, Scent and Sight, the Gazette, Dogs in Canada, Dog Fancy and assorted breed publications. She created Westminster Kennel Clubs social media presence and continues to consult the club in that capacity. She started the National Purebred Dog Day page on Facebook and recently submitted a resolution to the Colorado State Senate seeking recognition of May 1 as National Purebred Dog Day. Susi has been a Puli fancier since 1978 Darlenes Note: This topic applies equally to pedigreed Cats, their breeders and owners. We are fortunate to have Susi Szeremy with us.
