The Hebrew can be translated more literally, “He will protect the feet of his godly ones.” For people who traveled long distances on foot through dangerous, rocky trails, this promise was very meaningful and reassuring. Today we can still rest assured that the Lord protects his godly ones. Regardless of our own strength (or lack of it), we can rejoice that the Lord “will not let you stumble and fall; the one who watches over you will not sleep” (Psalms121:3).
