The Hebrew can be translated more literally, “He will protect the feet of his godly ones.” For people who traveled long distances on foot through dangerous, rocky trails, this promise was very meaningful and reassuring. Today we can still rest assured that the Lord protects his godly ones. Regardless of our own strength (or lack of it), we can rejoice that the Lord “will not let you stumble and fall; the one who watches over you will not sleep” (Psalms121:3). Devotional Prayer: LORD OF CREATION, we can rest securely in your care, and for this we thank you. For protecting us from many dangers in life we thank you. For guarding our feet and guiding our paths we thank you. Keep us from stumbling, and help us to walk faithfully in your paths by the leading of your Spirit. Amen.
