BibleEtcJanuary262014 I am committed daily to reading daily from the Old Testament; also from the New; something from the Qur’an; and a hadith. And, I am posting daily comments on Facebook. OT from a Bible Survey I had put together, with twelve sessions for a Muslim/Christian group. Exodus 15. A Psalm-like song celebrating the passage of the Israelites across the Red Sea. There is a song to the tune TZENA which is quite good! It begins “I will sing unto the Lord My Strength” I just learned there is a special verse for Easter. A recurrent theme of Exodus 15 is the steadfast love of the LORD for his people. The Hebrew is ḇə•‘āz•zə•ḵā which can mean strength. Matthew 5:13-20. You are the salt of the earth; you are the light of the world. Jesus has not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. Jesus has a radical form of obedience. As Ulrich Luz says in his massive Hermeneia commentary, Jesus only taught what He did believing what He taught could be done by His followers, a kind of righteousness that exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and the Pharisees. Quran. 3. Verses 144-148. People die when God wants them to die. No soul may die except with the permission of God and the predestined time. God rewards the grateful, both in this world and in the Hearafter. God loves the steadfast. God loves those who do good. Hadith. Sahib al Bukhari. Book 2/ Chapter 31/ verse 43 Page 73-74. Followers of Allah pay Zakat. My Muslim friends tell me this is 2 ½% of their capital, paid on an annual basis. This all goes for works of charity. I wish I had taken my books with me to convention in Jacksonville. No reading on 1/25, but I did exercise when I got home. Weight on home scale. 258# (this is both Saturday pm and Sunday am.) My weight will be 217 or lower on Jan 1, 2015, and at some point after that 167. Right now, I am 32 pounds under my gross 290, and have 91 pounds of fat and blubber to lose to get down to 167. I saw some pictures of me from almost 30 years ago. I used to be a more appropriate weight. I slowly gained a little by little. Exercise 4th day on level C- of chart one on Royal Canadian Air Force 5BX. Seven minutes. Several people at convention noticed my weight loss. Three main things: portion control, some redirected menu choices, and daily Canadian Air Force 5 B X exercises. It feels so good to pay the price to get down to my appropriate weight.
