The 22-year-old battered his dad with a hammer at their family home after hearing crashing and shouting coming from a bedroom. His father, Craig, was left with brain damage and holes in his head, but Wilson said he was defending his mother from a man described in court as a violent nasty drunk. Wilson - a new father himself - was jailed for six years after admitting wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, but the sentence has sparked outrage and calls for him to be freed.
