Big news today - millions of people will probably have their health insurance cancelled because their current policies dont meet the standards of the new mandate. There is nothing stopping the companies currently sending out cancellation letters from offering insurance plans that a) comply with the law, and b) do not follow the generally usurious business-model of the health-insurance industry, except a desire to maintain their current profit levels, stock prices, and to make sure that their CEOs are not forced to sell apples on the street. Keeping them central to health-care reform was the only way to get it passed. And it also guaranteed them new customers. But it didnt change their basic attitudes toward the biological units who need their product. And it never will.
