Big questions about the stewarding raised in todays Daily Mail, - TopicsExpress

Big questions about the stewarding raised in todays Daily Mail, apparently 2,000 Newcastle fans were crammed into the away end waiting to get into the ground. Chillingly, they found themselves packed in the pre-turnstile area tightly enough that they could not raise their hands. This is sort of the last stage before a proper crush when this get medically serious. My own view is that the club DO need to investigate this, as our stadium is happily free of disaster and lessons learned from these near miss situations can prevent real tradgedies. I suspect late trains played their part and the fact many Newcastle fans will have been unaware of the time needed to hike from Seven Sisters to the High Road (or the impossibility of leaving it late if you want to use the buses or get the train to Tottenham). The transport links to the ground are pretty shameful by todays standards however and I believe this is something Transport for London should address. The upgrading of the railway station next to the ground and a much better bus service on match day would be a starting point. It shouldnt have to wait years for the new stadium either, TfL is making a fortune in fares every matchday and its time some of this was put back the way of Tottenham fans. For the sake of first time visitors, single and all-women groups of fans and the disabled, there should be a shuttle bus service to the ground on match days. Particularly in mid-week games, having to run the gauntlet of the High Road in the late evening in order to catch the last tube home is not a good experience and not one elderly, vunerable or disabled fans should face. Maybe some enterprising company could run a shuttle bus service and charge a fiver from Seven Sisters to the ground? I know its a bit steep, but for the sake of those who cannot drink in the atmosphere up the High Road into the game due to time constraint or physical limitation, it would be brilliant... What do you think?
