Big shake ups at the top of this TV breakdown! I know it is mid - TopicsExpress

Big shake ups at the top of this TV breakdown! I know it is mid week, but there are only a few shows left this week. One show has dropped out of viewing rotation entirely, and another is probably going to back fill a bit so I can watch it in chunks. Overall, the tops of my list are still quite entertaining, where the bottom portion just fills me with meh. Remember, I sort this by not what is or isnt the better show, but which shows allow me to have the most fun while watching. Which ones entertain me the most? Lets hit the list! After the count, expect spoilers in the explanations. Last breakdown: https://facebook/pagemasterjim/posts/10152437177126918 Currently Airing Shows: 1.) The Flash 2.) SHIELD 3.) Arrow 4.) Homeland 5.) Blacklist (mid season break) 6.) Sleepy Hollow 7.) Doctor Who (season ended) 8.) Constantine 9.) The Walking Dead 10.) American Horror Story Failed: Gotham Side Project: Avatar the Last Airbender Coming Soon: Galavant (January 4) Agent Carter (January 6) Currently Airing Shows: The Flash continues to be this seasons most entertaining. The writing of the support characters continue to be trying at times, but the bigger picture of the show and the sheer fun everyone has keep this at the top. Plus, every episode they have a big tease scene to wrap, and this weeks really pushed it for me. Major setup for Gorilla Grodd. They teased it in the pilot, but the way this season has gone I should not be surprised they are committing to it. SHIELD continues to be a vast improvement over the first season. If you quit it, and I understand because I did, then you are missing out on some quality stuff. If you want to get back into it, message me and I can work on a breakdown for catching up. Because you should. This show is building some very intriguing layers, and last night just wrapped up Coulsons big mystery for the season. I was worried they were going to drag that out, but they didnt. In doing so, I feel like this season will have a big payoff at the end, just before Age of Ultron no less. Arrow this season has not been amazing. The writing misses the mark (whomp whomp) at times, but the cast draws me back. I rather enjoy the bigger picture currently, and you can never go wrong with this much Barrowman on your show. The Ras story is just getting started, but I am excited to see where it leads. The casting has yet to wow me, but I hope that changes starting tonight. Homeland was on the back burner for a few weeks. I am super glad I caught up the other day. I have found a few weak links this season, but I think they are pushing through. The show already feels a lot better than the previous season. A lot of that had to do with the reboot they had to do. Then again, the wonderful cameo this week kept me on edge. It was a proper surprise that floored me, even if I knew where it was leading. The show has been picked up for another season I am hearing. I worry about the longevity of the show, honestly. And if Saul dies this season, that might just be too much for it to survive. Still, it would be a bold move. The Blacklist came to its winter break this week, and they wrapped up a number of loose ends. Of course, it wouldnt be the Blacklist if questions were not answered with more questions. Daniel Knauf (writer/creator of Carnivale, a personal favorite show of mine) recently started work on the show due to the cancellation of Dracula I assume. His fingerprints are starting to become visible, what with the wheels within wheels design. That actually works in favor of this show. As always, it is the James Spader show. This week killed off the two other actors I enjoyed, but they were part time on the show and the big villains anyways. It was time. Show us what youve got, Blacklist! And now the meh portion of the list. Sleepy Hollow has dropped a lot this time around. Mind you, this has nothing to do with the magical John Noble. Nor does it have to do with the two leads. The story just is crawling currently. The show is at its best when it doesnt dally around. Plus, the story they are presenting currently just bores me. I hope they pick up the pace again soon. This can be a very fun show. It just hasnt been of late. Doctor Who has become a very split discussion as of late among fans online. It wrapped last weekend with a finale that I found to be a big payoff of the season. I know many were not on board with it, but to me it justified a lot of the themes I did not enjoy. Sure, it had a few silly elements. It wouldnt be Doctor Who if it didnt. Personally, I found the CyberBrig rather endearing. Michelle Gomez was brilliant in her role. I am still not keen on them bringing back The Master, but she shined with what she was given. Majorly. In the end, I had a lot of respect for Pink. I am really looking forward to the Christmas special, where we wrap on Clara and spend some time with Saint Nick Frost. Constantine fills the void the Supernatural did for me. But it still needs time to really gel. With the cast shake up, the show suffered from having two pilots. In time, I fully expect this show to climb the ranks. The lead actor is the major draw on this show currently. The show is putting a lot of friends to work, so for that I am very thankful! Keep at it show. You have it in you. The sooner we get to a tighter story, the better. The Walking Dead is the opposite of SHIELD for me right now. The previous season was miles ahead of where they are now from a story telling perspective. This season (much like the current season of Sleepy Hollow) they seem to be taking some risks with their narrative. Some sensible, some not so. I am glad the recent episode happened, as it revealed a secret comic fans have been sitting on. But as this show gets at times, I just find myself not caring about anyone. Lets just have a spinoff of Darly, Carol, and Beth. Yeah, thatll do real nice. American Horror Story would be shelved if it wasnt for the theme this season. However, I think I am done watching it every week. I am going to let these pile up and tear through them a few at a time. As usual, here we are nearing the middle of the season, and they are just American Horror Storying it up by feeling they have too few plots to weave together. The acting on the show remains consistent. Sadly, so does the writing. Failed: Gotham has failed this line up. I really wanted to give this show a chance. So I did. I thought the show needed more... Zazz. And they added it, but alas they also failed. Every week, they just parade characters from the lore and expect us to be in awe. Personally, I want the show to be more about Bullock and Gordon, which is how they sold the show. It just seems we dont get that. Goodbye for now, miserable city. I will keep an eye on you from afar, but Ive got other ways to waste my time. Side project: I am about halfway into season two of The Last Airbender, so please refrain from spoilers. EVERYONE tells me how good this season is when it ends. Thus far, I have rather enjoyed this show. There are a lot of great elements here. I hope by the time it is over, it lives up to the hype. For now, it is just amazing. Not a bad thing, mind you. Coming Soon: Galavant has a date! This show is going to be pure cheese, and that is just fine. Get here soon! Jadore fromage! Agent Carter had a sneak peak the other week. I really enjoyed it. I do worry because they are calling it an eight episode event, but at the same time if that all there is then I want it to be tight and planned our proper. We shall see starting January 6th!
