Big shout out to Pascal Martin. At a BJJ comp on the Gold Coast last year, he tore all the ligaments in his knee and severed the nerve in his leg that controls his foot. He has had 3-operations and done a massive amount of rehab. Over the last year he has always said he would be back to BJJ and was one of the reasons he worked so hard on his rehab. I was going to award Pascal his Blue Belt on the next training night after that comp. I was guttered when he hurt himself and disappointed I did not get to present him with what he had worked so hard for. But tonight Pascal walked back on the mat and in his true form worked hard the whole night. I was privileged enough to get a roll with my old mate, and shocked at how well he rolled after more than a year off not to mention all the injuries. So tonight I presented Pascal with his Blue Belt, the one he worked so hard for before the accident. I have handed out a few belts during my time a a Martial Arts Instructor, and not taking anything away for those Belts, but this one was different. I have never been so proud of the work, commitment, and effort someone has had to put in to receive a Blue Belt. Well done my friend, and I look forward to many more rolls with you!!!
