Bijli Pani Dialogue The third phase of Delhi Dialogue, the Aam Aadmi Party’s initiative to engage with the residents of Delhi, will take place on December 13 on the issues of electricity and water. It will be titled Bijli-Paani Dialogue. Delhi Dialogue team led by party leaders Ashish Khaitan and Meera Sanyal announced on Friday (December 5) that following Youth and women dialogues, six more phases of this public engagement programme will take place and it will conclude on January 18. The conclusions of Delhi Dialogue will form the basis of the party manifesto for the coming assembly elections. Bijli-Paani-Dialogue will witness the party’s vision based on public conversation on how to solve Delhis energy, electricity and water crisis. The AAP teams have already begun the engagement with different experts in the field of renewable energy, power grid companies, government and private undertakings in generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Roundtables on water management, rainwater harvesting, the Delhi Jal Board, and other stakeholders on issues related to water like drainage, sanitation and waste management are also being held. The Aam Aadmi Party is committed to providing access to basic energy needs to all of Delhi’s 1.7 crore citizens. It has large, ever-growing and unmatched energy requirements. · The party will implement its promise again of slashing electricity rates by 50% upto 400 units per month for every household till the audit of the private power distribution companies by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) is completed. · The party is confident that the findings of the CAG audit will lead to a drastic cut in electricity tarrifs in Delhi. · The party will also implement its promise again of providing lifeline water free of cost to the residents of Delhi and will ensure piped water supply in all parts of the national capital. · Water is the biggest concern of the common person in Delhi, as more than 50 lakh people do not get piped water in their homes. Significant number of Delhiites suffer from the prices of the powerful tanker mafia. After the Bijli Paani Dialogue on December 13, the schedule for next phases of Delhi Dialogue is : · December 27 : Rural issues · December 28 : Health & education · January 4, 2015 : traders issues · January 11 : Lokpal, transparency in governance · January 18 : Traffic, parking and public transport issues (Total of eight phases of Delhi Dialogue between November 15 and January 18) Regards.
