Biking Experiences are everywhere in Englewood and Its Enchanting Barrier Islands of Manasota Key, Little Gasparilla, Palm Island & Boca Grande......Bicycling is a great way to explore the Cape Haze Peninsula and its Gulf Islands of Boca Grande and Palm Island....all offer unique places to Bike Ride and explore. Cape Haze Trail Bike Riding The Cape Haze Pioneer Trail runs all the way thru the Cale Haze Peninsula & consists of approximate 8.5 miles of paved trail which starts at 776 & winds its way along Gasparilla Road, thru Rotonda, across Coral Creek, along the Coral Creek Golf Course and ends at the Boca Grande bridge. The trail was originally part of the Charlotte Harbor and Northern Railroad which transported phosphate from mines all around Florida to the ships frequently docked at Port Boca Grande Pass. Boca Grande Bike Riding The Island of Boca Grande offers about seven miles of paved bike trails that run the length of the island along the old rail bed. (From the bridge to downtown is also 7 miles) The trail runs through the town, by the restaurants and shops, and ends at Gasparilla Island State Park Beach, at the southern tip on Boca Grande Pass. This is a most delightful bike ride. The scenery is beautiful all along the trail. You can stop at many points along the way to take a walk on the beach, Whiddens marina and view Charlotte Harbor. In the village you will ride by all of the beautiful architecture and many quaint buildings. Palm Island Bike Riding Palm Island is great to explore by bicycle. Because there are no public parking lots or commercial establishments on Palm Island, if you are not renting on Palm Island, the only way to visit is on foot or bicycle. Simply park your car on Panama Drive and take the Palm Island Transit ferry across the Intracoastal Waterway to Palm Island. The lack of public access to the island makes for virtually zero automobile traffic creating the perfect place to spend a day exploring the island and beaches by bicycle.
