Bill Shorten supporting marriage equality at an Australian Christian Lobby thing is great. He deserves credit, but its important to remember what makes him brave enough to do this is the crazy hard risky work LGBTQ activists put in for decades to make this a society where a leader *could* take such a stance and not lose votes because of it. Activists set up the pitch so that Shorten could take the slam dunk which I assume is a perfectly correct sports metaphor.
