Biri Rock formation is part of the Biri Larosa Protected Landscape and Seascape (BIPLS) covering 5,281 hectares scenic landscape & 29,718 has marine waters spread over the municipalities of Biri, Lavezares, Rosario & San Jose in Northern Samar. It is a proclaimed protected area pursuant to NIPAS Act of 1992 by virtue of Pres. Proclamation 291 dated April 23, 2000. Biri is popularly known for its unique rock formations of sandstone 8 siltstone cliffs forming parallel to accordant rock layers, srairways, animals, mushrooms & amphitheater like structure; richly endowed wt dense mangrove cover, expansive coral reefs, sea grass.beds & variety marine life. An emerging ecotourism site kn region 8 - offers tour around tje nature sculptured rock islands & naturalnpools & lagoons, geo-tourism, picnic, bird watching & aqia sports. A pilot site for the DENR Sustainable Coral Reef Ecosystem Managememt Program 《SCREMP). Managed by a multi sectoral Protected Area Management Board (PAMB), under the administrative jurisdiction of CENRO Catarman of DENR with a Protected Area Superintendent (PASu).as its chief operating officer on site.
