Birth Worker Friends: Anybody familiar with a study cited in the Oct. 1981 issue of Lets Live magazine? Details: A number of women were given four gm (4000 mg) daily of Vitamin C in the first to third month of pregnancy, six gm daily in the fourth to sixth month of pregnancy and ten to fifteen gm in the seventh to ninth month of pregnancy. The results were fantastic: average labor time cut in half, the perineums stretched more easily, there were no miscarriages among those supplemented, there was no excessive bleeding in any of the women, none of the women had any tooth decay and they had outstandingly strong babies which ate and slept better. These babies were also given 50 mg daily which was raised gradually to 500 mg by six months old and 1000 mg by one year old. This supplementation resulted in healthier babies with none dying from crib death. I really want/need to know a whole lot more about this study. Where was it done? How big were the control groups of women? What form of vit. C was used in supplementation? If anybody has any leads to where I can find info to the actual study it would be much appreciated!
