Yung intensity namin napakataas and the energy is there, said Ginebra head coach Ato Agustin. Yung adjustment napakaganda; we were able to dictate the tempo. Our big men stepped up. Yung discipline nila napaka-ganda. Ginebra salvaged their twice-to-beat advantage against the eighth-seeded Aces and will get two days of rest before beginning a seven-game series against either Talk N Text or San Mig Coffee. Alaska bows out of the championship race after winning three straight rubber matches to stay alive in the conference. Ginebra pounced on a sluggish Alaska five in the opening quarter to build a double-digit lead. Mac Baracael and Japeth Aguilar combined for 13 points early on to put the Barangay ahead, 18-8. Alaskas problems were compounded when coach Luigi Trillo received a technical foul for continuous complaining after Sonny Thoss earned his second personal foul. Moments later, Calvin Abueva was whistled for a flagrant one foul. The ensuing free throws, plus outside sniping from Chris Ellis and Jayjay Helterbrand, pushed the lead to 31-10 with 3:37 to play. The Aces didnt give up and took it strong inside, with Jvee Casio hitting a triple with nine seconds left to trail 39-21. Ginebra doubled Alaskas tally as Mark Caguioa opened the second period with a trey, 42-21. Alaska couldnt put together a stand for most of the third quarter while Ginebra pressed inside with their big men. During one sequence, Abueva clawed Slaughters neck and caused it to bleed while contesting a shot. The act was deemed a normal foul and Slaughter knocked down his charities, 78-50. RJ Jazul made a pair of treys to help bring the lead down to 24, though his team settled for an 86-61 deficit after three. Abueva and Espinas inspired a spirited last stand in the final frame. At this point, however, literally everything was going in for Ginebra as Tenorio blindly threw the ball over his head and made the basket, plus the foul, 99-76. Abueva fouled out during the course of a 12-3 run, featuring treys from Casio and Jazul, to make it a 14-point game to give their team an outside chance at an upset, 102-88. But they were stopped in their tracks when Tenorio plunged in the lane for an and-one with 2:14 left. Thoss replied with an and-one, too, but gave up his last foul to Slaughter on the next possession,
