Bismillahirrahmanirrahim The Psychology of the Electronic Payment --------------------------------------------------- Went to Johor Premium Outlet today with my family. Had a good time, makan, shop a little... even played in the rain with my daughter :) I did not bring along any credit/debit card. Partly because I was too lazy to call and activate it for overseas spending. I was window shopping. Found several suits, beautifully-tailored. From Ralph Lauren, Raul, Hugo Boss, etc. Subhanallah. They were beautifully tailored. And they really fit well. And there were some really good sale. Some were going for 70 to 80 percent off. I changed around SG 250. Got me RM 600 plus. Wouldve been ample for a day trip, including meals, petrol, some basic items, etc. These suits, even with 70 percent off, wouldve still cost over a thousand RM. Had I been in possession of my cards, I wouldve not even thought twice. I wouldve purchased these suits, and felt good since I got such a great discount. But the truth is I wouldve bought the suits. And it wouldve been kept in my wardrobe, as I can count with my one hand the times I wouldve needed to put on a suit in a year. Bros and sis, thats the psychology of the electronic payment. It makes it so convenient to keep on buying stuffs. With a Debit Card, you carry your entire savings in the wallet. Worse, the Credit Card makes it so easy for u to spend money you dont have. And they charge you repressive interest rates, and you keep on rolling over your credit by paying the interest on top of interest. Riba upon riba. Also, Psychologically, it is so much easier to hand over to someone else so much of your hard-earned cash if its done electronically. A slide of a plastic card, a signature, there goes a thousand ringgit for a suit. Had you to pay in cash, you feel yourself parting with the money as you count the over-twenty 50 ringgit bills. Bros and sis, thats why these retailers and marketers make sure they accept electronic payment. They want it to be as convenient as possible... for you to part with your money. And go into debt. Live simply. Live debt-free. Live in this world. Live for the next. Have a wonderful evening in the Remembrance of Allah azzawajal.
