Black Swallowtail eggs are creamy white when laid. Before - TopicsExpress

Black Swallowtail eggs are creamy white when laid. Before hatching they develop a dark ring around them. (I learned that from Wayne and Judis book, amazon.ca/The-Life-Cycles-Butterflies-Maturity/dp/1580176178.) Here are eggs on a couple of different host plants. Click on the photos to see the eggs clearer. The eggs on the rue are from both Giant ST and Black ST. Black St eggs are creamy colored and GST eggs are rusty brown.
