A clean-up of 4 sites (2 camps and 2 shoreline habitats) in two communities will be conducted in 2013. The clean-up will employ local residents and will engage youth and camp users in the clean up activity. Following the clean-up, an inventory of waste will be recorded and a community-based waste management strategy drafted. An educational campaign will follow, involving the delivery of community-developed and culturally-appropriate educational materials (posters, signs, radio advertisement, etc) and durable waste collection bags, to ensure community members are engaged and enabled to keep their camps and shoreline clean into the future.
