Black people are black because we were taken from our homelands half a century ago and then the colonist in Africa carved new territorial boundaries. I am black or African American because there is no way for me to ever find out exactly where I originate from. The term Black was invented by white people just like the term white. They called them selves white to symbolize superiority, purity, good, and righteousness (the facts of history might beg to differ with this definition). They chose black to symbolize, darkness, evil, inferiority, and everything that is substandard. There is no place called White-landia where white people come from or Black-frica where black people come from. There has never been a person born with either white or black skin. These titles were created by white people to enforce the appearance of superiority. Their systems of oppression, slavery, and apartheid are built upon the foundation of these definitions. I call myself black because I know full well that a white person is incapable of defining any people outside of their own cultures. I call myself black because my ancestors made black beautiful. I call myself black because I am the standard barrier for overcoming. Some peoples families come from England, some Italy, some Germany, some other places in Europe. They know about their history and how and why they came here. Why do white people call them selves white? There is no practical reason, save for the desire to be/feel superior. If you call yourself white what does it mean to you? Do you know what it means to others, is so why do you keep calling yourself white?
