Blackies Brewery - Simcoe Pale Ale 5.5% Opens with a good hiss, and some light smokiness coming out the bottle. It pours with good carbonation, and is a golden orange colour, which has a slight haze to it. There is a lovely pearl white head, that leaves good lacing. On the nose, the first thing that hits you is this really pungent hoppy aroma. There is pine, fresh cut grass, lemons, limes. The aroma on this is amazing. Its a typical American pale ale aroma, and one I love. There is also a late addition of candi floss. On to the taste, and at first there is this bitter citrus and herbal flavour, which was very clean. that then develops into a fruity and piney flavour. This is a serious hoppy ale, it has a slight dry finish to it. There is a sweetness in the ale from the malts, but its right in the back ground and masked by the big hoppy flavour. The body on the is perfect or the style and has a great mouth feel. This has to be one of the best Ive had from Blackies Brewery
