Blessed @ Velocity today-great worship summed up in the words of ‘Jesus Paid It All – O praise the One who paid my debt, & raised this life up from the dead!’ Smiling graduates walked away with Bibles after prayers from Danette & Scott. After the msg, Terry & Bill introduced us to ‘connecting conversations’- great time of ‘getting to know one another’-becoming friends. Pastor shared his heart about ‘Friends’ saying ‘show me your friends & I will show you your future.’ Prov. 13:20 said ‘walk with the wise & you will become wise; for a companion of fools suffers harm.’ You are the average of your five closest friends. Prov. 17:17 says ‘a friend is someone you may or may not know well who accepts your friend request on facebook & is born to like & comment on ur posts to make you feel good.’ Ok, so that’s not true- it says ‘a friend loves @ all times; a brother is born for a time of adversity.’ We need friends; in 25 yrs, we have gone from an avg of 6 close friends to only 2 close friends – due to work hours; divorce rates; exploding social media. We’ve got people w/ more likes, more fans, more followers, more FB friends, & yet they are more alone than ever before. Make friendships face to face, not just thumbs to thumbs. Heb. 10:24-25 ‘let us think of ways to motivate one another toward acts of love & good works & lets not neglect our meeting together.’ Thru stories & humor, pastor challenged us to be different with our families & friendships - to make them the priority.
