Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3 To acquire significant substance in this world requires much endeavor, lots of money, aggresiveness and, many times, a big ego capable of self promotion. Whereas, the kingdom of heaven is acquired by grace through faith, not of works, without ego and boasting involved, it is a gift and came to us through the most humble of all humans, Jesus Christ. We must learn to take the least of positions, favoring others before ourself, to step aside and let someone else take the spotlight, to return good when were wronged; this is the character of one who is poor in spirit. Everyone may have someone who stands out in their mind, but in comtempary times, Mother Teresa exemplifies this as well as anyone, but our true model is and will always be Jesus, who made no effort to create a reputation, lowered himself by becoming obedient to the point of death on the cross. Blessed be the name of Jesus, a name above all others.
